I disagree with Alfred Hitchcock.
I think just the opposite is true. Sound is 95% of any great video or film. Sound is a passive medium. You can be looking at anything while you listen. Sound is the first sense that we use in the womb. We heard our mother’s voice months before we ever saw her.

The playground of sound is the theater of the mind.
Sound is all but everything in a movie, tv show, or internet video. If you have a great HD quality picture and crappy sound – you will perceive the image quality to be low. The reverse is true. If you have a 320×480 compressed video image with world class audio – the perceived quality of the image will be high.

These are exciting time for content creators! Marc Anderson sums up what I’ve been thinking about the writer’s strike in his blog post here: http://blog.pmarca.com/2007/11/rebuilding-holl.html

My comments based on Marc’s post:

1. Start making media now. Don’t wait. Now is the time for emerging content creators to begin projects.
2. Move to professionalism quickly. There are a ton (I mean millions) of people who have raw talent but are unskilled. We all need to become skilled at the craft of creating media.
3. Begin building a network of like minded creators. Community is everything in the new media economy. Let’s begin developing relationships with other people in this space.

Here is the actual video that I shot with my hand-held camera.

Here is a group video we all shot together. Everyone that had a video camera was in on the shoot and will be posting their videos online as well. They should be tagging them “podcampedu2007″ on YouTube.com.

What an awesome event! There were probably a total of 50 – 60 people at Podcamp DC EDU. It was a really good group size. I got to meet pretty much everyone in the room. Below is my slide presentation, the link to the Podcamp EDU wiki, and the flickr photo link.
