@Peckhammer

Good thoughts.

And you're right. Video IS where it's at. And I would say video is a great attraction medium. Of course there are also going to be exceptions to what I think will happen this year. For example the MommyCast podcast is an audio show and they have hundreds of thousands of listeners as well as sponsorships enabling them to do their show full time. But even Mommycast is moving toward video.

It will be interesting to see what the future holds...

"Podcasters will wake up to the power of blogs. Many will abandon podcasting altogether and begin blogging instead."

That's bold, man. I believe that blogging, if you define it broadly, is a component of any serious content these days. I stopped "blogging" in the more narrow definition about a year ago, replacing my thoughtful drivel with a well-produced vidcast. That's gained Peckhammer TV a world-wide audience.

And I'll make a prediction, having worked in both mediums: Audio podcasting is past it's prime. Video is where it's at, and you'd better be good at it.

@Taylor

Yes. I think we should have some more thoughtful writing too. Twitter has really upended the blog as a place to list breaking news and links that one finds interesting.

Now maybe we as writers can use our blogs to talk more about context rather than just content.

I actually agree with your Twitter prediction; communities that thrive on great information and exchange wither once everyone is on it. The next step for Twitter is for more business exchanges, more people to "take it seriously", and to try to reach more and more people. Email is not dead in any way at all; it's still a more personable way to deliver thoughts, ideas and messages people that through a blog post.

What I would love is for a return to long-form thoughts and writing and the end of the "cult of new", but I'm a bit of a Luddite...
